"Experts tell us that 90% of all brain development occurs by the age of five. If we don't begin thinking about education in the early years, our children are at risk of falling behind by the time they start Kindergarten."
- Robert. L. Ehrlich

Our Philosophy

The philosophy of Nana’s Early Childcare (Nana’s) is to encourage and stimulate positive physical, emotional, and intellectual growth in a safe and nurturing environment, with a healthy regard for each child’s unique self.

Nana’s is a family childcare home, licensed by the State of Hawaii Department of Human Services.

Educational Policy

Nana’s seeks to provide its children with a global edge for the future by laying a Japanese/English (bilingual) foundation.  Its program includes exposure to the Japanese language and culture from infancy to the toddler period.

Early language development studies have found that as an infant or young child’s brain develops, the brain loses its ability to “hear” languaging sounds that are not present in the language that he/she is exposed to in daily life.  Through exposure during the early childcare years, Nana’s seeks to promote the retention of that ability.
